We need to consider the cost of NOT fluoridating Rotorua’s water – the cost in terms of pain, suffering and disfigurement for some children, the cost of operations under general anaesthetic for scores of Rotorua children every year, and the cost of extra dental bills for thousands of adult residents.

Along with good nutrition, regular brushing and dental care, fluoridation is an important part of a total oral health package in the fight against tooth decay.
